in the Peak District
At Bookstore Brierlow Bar, we feel it is important to raise awareness of the fantastic diversity of wildlife in the local area. We are situated in an excellent position for attracting a range of local birds and mammals. See our wild bird feeding 'station' and nest box 'village' in our small woodland area. Over 50 species of birds have been identified in the first four years of observation. We keep a note of birds spotted on our identification wallchart in the shop. Recent sightings include Sparrowhawk, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Buzzard and our resident flock of 50 to 60 Goldfinches.
The surrounding countryside is perfect for exploring and observing the comings and goings of the rich wildlife in the area. Pictured above is the Barn Owl, one of the many varieties of Owls that may be seen locally.
